Wanda L. Bass School of Music

The Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Musicology to begin August 15, 2022. The area of specialization is open; however, we particularly welcome applicants with research and teaching interests that reach beyond the Western classical canon. This position carries a full-time teaching load of 12 credits per semester. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in an innovative musicology curriculum that includes courses in non-Western and popular music traditions, the Western classical canon, and specialized, topical writing seminars. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to participate in the department's assessment program, student recruiting and retention efforts for the department and the university, and in advising students, as well as participating in faculty meetings and other university service endeavors.

Qualifications:

A PhD in Musicology or Ethnomusicology is required at the time of appointment. Three-years university teaching experience preferred. A strong commitment to the teaching of undergraduate students is expected.
