Research Associate II

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Responsible for executing complex experimental protocols and procedures within a defined project framework and timeline.
Design experimental protocols, technical reports, and summaries of assigned research projects under minimal supervision.
Tabulate and analyze experimental data for all phases of a project utilizing statistical programs.
Investigate and contribute to the development of new methods and technologies for project and process advancement.
Maintain accurate, detailed records of experiments and results, and assist in identifying and troubleshooting of unexpected results.
Contribute to overall team objectives.
May provide guidance to lower level personnel.
Maintain lab equipment, related records, and coordinate use of lab equipment.
Assist in the operation of specialized and automated equipment.
Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements.
Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor and Safety Officer(s) of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Requirements:

One to two years' research/laboratory experience with a Bachelor's degree required or one year related research/laboratory experience with a Master's degree is preferred.
Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization. Ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records and logs.
Working knowledge of laboratory techniques and methods, including basic cellular biology techniques. Experience in cell culture, antibody staining, and flow cytometry is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to successfully execute defined experiments of simple to moderate complexity and prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses of assigned research projects.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Practical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation operation.
Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Powerpoint, Excel and Word.
Must have superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units.
