*Summary of Duties:*
The staff scientist will be responsible for coordinating the shared molecular lab in the Department of Entomology at Washington State University. In this role, the scientist will mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on molecular ecology projects, while also conducting their own research on plant-insect-pathogen interactions.
*Required Qualifications:*

* A PhD in Entomology, Molecular Biology, or related field, and at least 5 years experience post-PhD conducting research on molecular biology of insects, plants, and insect-borne pathogens.

* Considerable experience with molecular methods, including, but not limited to: PCR, qPCR, gene extraction and amplification, gene sequencing, genomics, and bioinformatics.

* Demonstrated ability to write research publications and grants containing data from molecular ecology studies.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

* History of mentoring undergraduate and graduate students on molecular ecology projects.

* Demonstrated breadth of knowledge (documented by research publications) in a variety of molecular biology tools.

* Ability to work in the field as well as the laboratory is also highly desirable.
