Instructor or Higher, Internal Medicine (Hospital Medicine) TTUHSC El Paso - Transmountain and Tenet Healthcare have collaborated on the development of a new set of clinical and educational programs, designed to
serve medical students, nursing students and resident physicians; to include Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Psychiatry.
The facilities are designed to serve the healthcare needs of El Paso and Southern New Mexico, while also providing a world-class training site for up to 100 medical residents across a multi-year program. Position Description
Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. The ideal candidate must:
Have a passion for ambulatory care and teachingDesire to be part of a stimulating academic environmentHave a strong interest in professional developmentTeaching, both didactic and clinicalQuality improvementConducting scholarly projects
Required Qualifications M.D. / D.O.Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program in Internal MedicineLicensed or eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of experience as a hospitalistBoard Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal MedicineExperience as a Hospitalist in a community hospital settingExperience working with residents as part of the hospitalist teamRegional or emerging national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or Higher Major/Essential Functions Provides consultations and clinical services in an inpatient settingAttends inpatient consultations in areas of specialtyParticipates in continuing education activities to maintain or enhance knowledge and skillsCollaborates with leadership group(s) to improve inpatient Quality of Care at teaching hospitalSupervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residentsRefers patients to medical specialist, social services or other professionals as appropriateExtensive and ongoing communications with community primary care physicians who routinely manage the care of patients currently in hospitalCompletes all clinical and professional records and documentation accurately and timely to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory, licensure and accreditation requirementsParticipates in committees and other administrative duties as assignedConducts discharge planning and discharges patients About El Paso El Paso has been ranked one of the "50 Safest Metro Cities in America 2017' by the SafeWise Report.
