Fulfill your passion as a Public Health Nurse with the Wyoming Department of Health.
This full-time, direct care public health nursing position in Goshen County provides client care across all aspects of public health under the supervision of the county nurse manager. This includes, but is not limited to, clinics and other settings; and teaching and counseling the client and family.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Provides direct nursing care in the clinic & other settings through the use of the nursing process, including teaching & counseling patients and families in patient care.
Document nursing care given, according to State Standards for documentation in a timely manner.
Plan and conduct health clinics and classes at various sites within the county and occasionally at other locations.
Refer patients to other community resources and collaborate with those providers in carrying outpatient care.
Work with county nurse manager, agency staff, and state PH Emergency Preparedness team to plan, train, and implement all-hazard response plans, including smallpox and pandemic flu clinics and potential post-event case follow-up.
Represent the agency on local/county/state/national boards, committees, or organizations.
Under the supervision of the county nurse manager, assume oversight of a specific program, including arranging patient services and making policy recommendations.
Participates in peer review, audits, and other means of evaluation to assure the quality of the nursing process.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants who graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing and hold a current Wyoming Registered Nurse license.
**Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Wyoming
**CPR Certification
**Current Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of and the ability to apply nursing principles and practices, case management, and emergency procedures.
General knowledge of social and economic conditions related to public health.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and organize time.
Ability to provide health teaching during home visitation and clinics. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current Wyoming Registered Nurse license.
Knowledge of Public Health nursing principles.
Ability to communicate with all socioeconomic levels.
Skills in nursing assessment.
Demonstrates professional expertise in consultation using reflection.
Demonstrates professional knowledge of nursing practice and nursing process.
Demonstrates ability to locate and obtain resources to promote professional development and clinical excellence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to:
Lift medical equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends when the situation requires it.
