Position Information

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Research and Innovation, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination of UC Alianza MX's research and academic programs, including UC MEXUS-CONACYTs graduate fellows and postdoctoral exchanges as well as the binational collaborative research grants. The incumbent supports the Associate Director of Research and Innovation in coordinating different intercampus and binational research and academic initiatives promoted by UC Alianza MX throughout the UC system. The incumbent is responsible for gathering information regarding progress made by such research and academic initiatives and their deliverables. Also responsible for the process and coordination of the Mexican students who apply for enrollment in graduate programs at all 10 campuses of the UC in all academic disciplines. Provides advisement to current graduate fellows and prospective students about graduate programs in all areas and campuses, the application/enrollment process, and academic and administrative requirements and financial aid packages collaboratively funded by UC and Mexican institutions of higher education and government. Supervises the follow-up and tracking of all UC Alianza MXs research and academic initiatives and UC MEXUS-CONACYT fellows, other fellowship programs as well as collaborative binational research grants. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the oversight of the application process and the advisement of postdoctoral scholars for all 10 UC campuses in the UC MEXUS- CONACYT postdoctoral exchange program and other new postdoctoral exchange programs, in accordance with agreements between the University and various Mexican institutions. Works with UC and Mexican counterparts to provide advisement to current postdoctoral scholars regarding academic, administrative, and financial requirements. Coordinates and supervises the organizing of specific events for the academic programs for UC Alianza MX. Attends & represents UC Alianza MX and UC MEXUS in meetings and conferences with Mexican counterparts in Mexico and all 10 UC campuses. Please note: Applicants may be asked to complete a skills assessment and/or submit a work sample as part of the selection process. This position may travel up to 25% including travel to Mexico. This position is classified as remote/hybrid with occasional visits to the Riverside campus as necessary to perform the job duties. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). The budgeted hiring range is up to $93,200 annually. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Extensive experience in multicultural competencies, and personal and academic crisis intervention; working with students to assist in clarification of ethics and values.

Ability to communicate and interact at a high academic and professional level verbally and in writing in both Spanish and English to present information in a clear, concise, diplomatic manner to individuals and diverse groups of people from various ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and administering evaluative instruments for measuring program effectiveness.

Knowledge of academic curricula; strong knowledge of the organizational climate, structure/organizations, and culture.

Knowledge in the methodologies used to enhance student achievement, such as collaborative teaching/learning models, strategies for effective counseling and peer mentoring, small group facilitation and training, coaching, mentoring and advocacy.

Advanced experience in planning, developing, and administering enrichment programs/projects, academic and personal development seminars, courses, and workshops.

Thorough knowledge and ability to utilize a personal computer for database, spreadsheet and word-processing software.

Knowledge and experience in researching, compiling and analyzing data, and generating reports; extensive experience in developing evaluative instruments specific to programs/projects goals and objectives.

Experience in establishing and implementing short and long term program goals and objectives; demonstrated effectiveness in mediation and conflict resolution.

Advanced knowledge of research methodologies and research designs.

Knowledge and experience in working with historically underrepresented ethnic minority communities, first generation college students.

Demonstrated competencies and advanced knowledge in theories of multicultural counseling, learning, identity development, human and career development.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced experience in group dynamics, facilitation, and training; comprehensive assessment of academic preparation and personal competencies.

Knowledge of and experience in conflict management and intervention strategies.

In depth, detailed academic and administrative knowledge of graduate student programs and enrollment requirements at UC and their compatibility with various higher educational programs at institutions in Mexico.

General knowledge of UC campus departments at all 10 UC campuses as well as those institutions that UC MEXUS and the University interact with on a programmatic basis.

Knowledge and experience in managing funds designated for special programs.
