ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Partner of Choice (PoC) service collaborations expand the way Pfizer works together with biopharmaceutical partners (Partners) to advance innovative therapies. The DSRD Sourcing Lead role will be responsible for delivering Partner of Choice (PoC) cost/resource estimates and projections and contracting/work orders on behalf of the Drug Safety Research and Development department. The successful candidate will need to be able to innovate solutions, establish business processes and be an SME for the areas for which he or she is responsible.

The DSRD Sourcing Lead will have broad experience within nonclinical safety assessments and in working with internal and external partners and suppliers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies both scientific and business operations knowledge to identify and evaluate internal and external service capabilities/options, to manage the needs different types of PoC collaborations
  • Serves as the business operations contact to advise and mobilize internal teams/partners to drive decision-making that often involves the scheduling of external resources.
  • Serves as a key contributor to a team dedicated to developing and implementing overall strategies and processes for DSRD management of PoC activities.
  • Partners with DSRD Outsourcing Lead for engaging and securing resources at CROs. If work is placed internally, this individual will partner with internal Line discipline management to ensure work is placed to the PoC collaboration needs.
  • Develops work orders for internal and external work in support of all DSRD work included in for PoC service collaborations.
  • Proactively identifies needs for business processes and workflows and leads multidisciplinary groups in creating and implementing program needs both internally and externally.
  • Aligns strategy, objectives and deliverables both internally and externally for PoC service collaborations.
  • Responsible for assessing collaboration health and developing and implementing strategies to strengthen individual and organizational relationships within PoC service collaborations while driving productivity and maximizing value for Pfizer from PoC activities.
  • With minimal guidance, manages issue resolution, budget and project timelines to deliver on the agreed upon PoC activities specified in PoC agreement.
  • Establishes collaborative working relationships with internal scientific and business partners, such as Global Tox Leadership Team, Partner Therapeutic Area Lead, Business Development, Legal, Procurement, Finance, Medicine Design, Biomedicine Design and Accounts Payable to maintain progress and efficiency for each partner collaboration and internal/external process
  • Oversees financial and payment tracking, invoice resolution, study milestones and shipping logistics to ensure operational efficiency and ease of doing business for Pfizer teams and partners
  • Collaborates with other members in DSRD and mentor junior members of the team to achieve overall group mission and objectives.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in a biological sciences or related field with 5+ years' or Master's degree with 10+ years' or Bachelor's degree with 15+ years' relevant experience.
  • 5+ years' related experience in the pharma/biotech industry, with exposure toresearch collaboration managementand interactions with both US and non-US based companies and/or academic institutions.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to work across organization to gather information and implement plans
  • Preclinical drug discovery experience
  • Knowledge of most corporate functions and operations across the industry
  • Experience working effectively with people across all levels of the organization (internal and external to Pfizer) in a variety of business disciplines in a global environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, as well as strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Experience recognizing and creatively solving problems individually and with team members and knowing when to escalate to management
  • Experience building and maintaining strong rapport with colleagues, customers and external partners
  • Preclinical CRO experience strongly preferred
