Overview:
Teach private oboe lessons and provide assistance and academic advising to oboe studentsoutside of class. Responsibilities:
Teach private oboe lessons physically in Denison, TX as assigned by department chair.Use appropriate technology for lesson communication.Stay current in both the professional field and current teaching/learning best practices.Work as a team member in the Fine Arts Department.Contribute to department assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.Comply with the faculty responsibilities as related in the Faculty Handbook and the Colleges Policies and Procedures Manual.Performance Measurements:Demonstrates Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education.To ensure effective student services and high quality customer service are provided.This Job Description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising the position. Qualifications:
A minimum of one to two years of related experience.Previous successful experience teaching oboe in a high school, university and/or community college, and demonstrated ability to engage students.Masters degree or higher in music from an accredited college or university.A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.Work may involve motivating or influencing others.The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special demands are required to do the work.Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in atypical office.This position requires original transcripts and three professional references.
