3 year fixed term opportunity for an ARC Grant funded Researcher A available immediately.

A fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in ARC funded collaborative research between the University of Adelaide, NT Geological Survey, Teck Australia Pty Ltd. (Teck) and BHP Metals Exploration Australia.

Work in the collaborative School of Physical Sciences to study the greater McArthur basin of Northern Australia with a focus on understanding its potential for sedimentary-hosted mineral deposits.

We are seeking a team-player who approaches research in a collaborative manner and who has expertise in basin-geoscience that they enthusiastic to share and to teach.

The successful candidate will be an earth scientist with expertise in one or more of sedimentary geology, geochronology, sedimentary and/or hydrothermal geochemistry, ore geology, Proterozoic earth systems

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Earth Sciences and report to Prof Alan Collins and have the opportunity to be involved with teaching (especially field-teaching) and their role will include project development and co-supervision of Honours and postgraduate students

To be successful you will need:
  • Demonstrated research capability in the broad area of mineral system geology, with demonstrated application of at least one of the following: sedimentary geology, geochronology, sedimentary geochemistry, hydrothermal geochemistry, ore geology, Proterozoic earth systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and critically analyse data, in addition to working effectively as a member of a research team.
  • Track record of publication of research results.
  • Experience in manipulating data using data analytical techniques would be advantageous.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with professional and industry bodies, government and members of the community.

The successful applicant will have obtained a PhD or equivalent in an area of Earth Sciences and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
