We are seeking to recruit an Externally Funded Researcher to undertake experiments at the University of Adelaide wind tunnel.

This complex project involves both a wind tunnel test campaign and/or numerical computational fluid dynamics studies to investigate the complex interactions between propellers and a bluff body. Experimental techniques such as hotwire anemometry, particle imaging velocimetry, acoustic and surface pressure measurements will be utilised.

The successful candidate will have advanced skills and experience in experimental fluid dynamics.

The research aims to bring insights into development of faster and more reliable engineering models needed to increase the reliability of the computational modelling tools used to design aerodynamics vehicles if society is to meet a 2050 target for net-zero CO2 emissions.

The candidate will be required to collaborate with PhDs, postdoctoral fellows and researchers.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role within the team, conducting independent research, supervising research students, and engaging with collaborator.

To be successful you will need:
  • An undergraduate engineering degree and a PhD (or near completion) or equivalent experience in an area relevant to the School's research strengths.
  • Experience and knowledge in experimental fluid mechanics.
  • An ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience.
  • Knowledge and experience in experimental measurement techniques such as Particle Imaging Velocimetry.
