Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Jan 13 2022 Senior Scientist - Cell Biology We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to fill a position in the Medicine Design organization within R&D. The scientist will be responsible for development of in vitro cellular assays for the purpose of high throughput screening (HTS) and compound profiling. In this role, the scientist will have the opportunity to work on targets supporting multiple therapeutic areas including Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Neurology and Inflammation. These responsibilities include some of the following: Independently run in vitro plate based cell assays to support small molecule Lead Optimization Independently execute routine laboratory experiments and data analysis on a weekly basis Summarize and communicate experimental results in a timely manner to program teams Comfortable with a faced paced and productivity-oriented laboratory Work in a matrix team environment to enable optimum delivery of project and department objectives to the highest possible scientific standard Contribute to HTS campaigns either as part of screening team or as screen lead With guidance, develop in vitro cellular assays that enable interrogation of cellular targets or pathways for high throughput screening (HTS) and/or compound profiling efforts Capable of integrating data streams across a project and gain insights from the data fabric Writing up experimental results in electronic notebook in a timely manner Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, safety, best practice and laboratory standards Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: A BS in a life sciences discipline with 5 + years relevant laboratory experience or a MS in a relevant discipline (e.g. Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology) Preferred Qualifications: If you have any the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Qualified candidates should have strong track-record in one or more of the following disciplines: Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology, Infectious Disease or Molecular Pharmacology with: Drug discovery industry experience Working experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Cell based assay development, Cellular target engagement, Molecular Pharmacology Experience in one or more of the following therapy areas: Immunology, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Inflammation, Neurology Experience designing miniaturized in vitro assays for the purposes of compound screening (HTS) Experience with Predictive disease-relevant tissue culture models with emphasis on primary cell/stem cell, and/or co-culture models Comfortable working at the interface of biology and chemistry; understanding of structure activity relationships (SAR) Experience working with data at scale, including multiparametric data analysis Demonstrated strengths in high performance behaviors, such as building relationships, flexible thinking, and agility Protein biochemistry experience to complement your cell biology background Experience in the following technical fields Microplate-based assays Cellular target engagement Cellular Thermal Shift Assay (CETSA) Flow Drug combination screening Large molecule (e.g. antibody) pharmacology Western blotting Qualified candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong enterprise behavior working across different lines to ensure optimum support of drug discovery programs.
