The CCNY Psychology Department is a vibrant, diverse department located in Harlem, serving over 1500 undergraduate majors, with master's programs in General Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, and an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.

The Mental Health Counseling program has a longstanding commitment to training professionals who address the needs of undeserved and minority populations. The ideal candidate blends teaching and supervisory experiences in mental health counseling with strong scholarly research in areas such as: clinical health psychology, implementation science, student mental health, personality disorders, minority mental health, substance use disorders and serious mental illness.

Successful applicants will welcome participation in all programs the Department offers and in interdisciplinary collaboration to complement current departmental research focus areas, which include health disparities, substance use, post traumatic stress disorder, and social affective neuroscience. They will be responsible for performing teaching, research, and mentorship/advisement duties. The Assistant Professor will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in counselor education or a related area is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the mental health counseling profession through relevant professional memberships, professional development activities, service/advocacy, and scholarly work. The candidate is expected to maintain an active program of research, publish theoretical and empirical research in top-tier journals, be committed to both undergraduate and graduate education, and provide mentoring/advisement to mental health counseling students. Potential for obtaining external grant support is essential. Also required is the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
