A Research Associate position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This position independently plans and conducts endocrine disruption & cancer research under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI). The Research Associate will perform molecular, cell biology, rodent experiments and next-generation sequencing. This position will develop or modify standard test procedures to reflect actual experimental needs of the project.

Salary offered commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides training to students/junior staff.
  • Performs administrative duties including record keeping, equipment & supply maintenance and document editing.
  • Oversee assigned students and personnel.
  • Responsible for routine managing of project experimental design, statistical analysis & evaluation of data.
  • Position recommends modification to standard protocols based on actual results.
  • Plans and conducts research as outlined in grant application under direction of PI or Collaborators.
  • Develops or modifies research protocols and collects background information for ongoing and future experiments.
  • Participates in data collection and evaluation of experimental results and performs statistical and graphical analysis of data collected.
  • Makes recommendations to PI or Collaborators based on grant direction.
  • Helps oversee lab personnel and assigned students as required, including training and scheduling.
  • Participates in procurement, maintenance and inventory of laboratory equipment/supplies.
  • Oversees staff compliance with the numerous University, State and Federal guidelines for the safe operation of a laboratory.
  • Performs other duites as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of research experience required.
