Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing, Non-Tenure Track
Ohio University Chillicothe invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction position in Nursing. Available August 16, 2022. This position is 1.0 FTE with a teaching load of 24 semester hours or equivalent per academic year.
Teaching/instruction is the major responsibility of this position. Instruction may be in the classroom or clinical. Advising and committee work may also will be required. The ideal candidate identifies needs of learners relative to the objectives of the program.
Specific duties include:
Utilizes records of previous experiences, personal interviews, and observations.
Assists learners to identify their own learning needs.
Develops plans for learning experiences.
Selects and organizes learning experiences which will assist learners to meet relevant program learning outcomes.
Works with others to choose and organize learning experiences which are consistent with learning outcomes.
Plans within the educational unit, with nursing service and allied groups for the learning experiences of students that maximize safe care of clients/patients.
Determines, selects, and organizes facilities, equipment, and materials necessary for learning. Prepares course syllabi, exams, class handouts, online materials, audiovisual materials, etc. as needed.

Ohio University Chillicothe, founded in 1946, is the oldest regional campus of Ohio University. About 65 miles west of Athens, the Chillicothe campus serves a large, sparsely populated area of south-central Ohio.
All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's in Nursing by the time of the appointment (August 16, 2022) from an approved school of professional nursing. Must hold a current license or eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio as a registered nurse and any other state where supervision of students is required.
At least three (3) years of experience in the nursing profession. Evidence of participation in professional organizations and in relevant community activities. The ability to develop professional relationships with administration, faculty, students, and personnel of agencies. Strong communication skills including the ability to give and receive constructive suggestions. Keeps updated on clinical practice issues and skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer at least one (1) year of nursing education experience. Relevant experience in OB/PEDS and/or Med/Surg.
