The School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology is a leading centre for practice-based education in the creative disciplines. Our £55 million New Adelphi flagship building offers top-quality specialist equipment and facilities to suit all creative requirements. We are also the only UK university to have a campus at MediaCityUK, an international media hub next to prestigious media organisations such as the BBC, ITV, and Dock10, with industry-standard facilities that offer a professional environment for our staff and students. The School's activities are organised into four Directorates, currently totalling around 4,800 students: Art and Design; Creative Technology, Journalism, Politics and Contemporary History; Film and Broadcast Media; and Performance, Music, English and Dance.

We are delighted that you are interested in finding out more about our current vacancy for the role of Teaching Fellow in Photography in the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology.

BA (Hons) Photography at the University of Salford is a successful and growing programme. You will be an ambitious academic specialising in the subject with relevant industry expertise. You will have experience in commercial aspects of photography through work with industry or personal professional practice. You will be skilled in practical aspects of the medium to inform students in developing their awareness, knowledge and skills in relation to the potential of professional practice within the field of photography. The BA (Hons) Photography programme has productive relationships with industry providing students with essential professional opportunities. Within your role you will continue to enhance these relationships and form new opportunities throughout the region and beyond.

Our students are award winners with alumni contributing to the development of the subject nationally and internationally. The programme introduces students to technical and theoretical contexts of the subject through specialist theory tuition and excellent facilities both at our New Adelphi and MediaCityUK campuses. The programme is further informed by visiting practitioners, curators and commercial specialists providing talks, workshops, and portfolio reviews. We are committed to ensuring our graduates are prepared for professional contexts across a range of areas. The programme provides students with experience across both art, documentary, and commercial forms of photographic practice.

You will be expected to provide high levels of tuition to maintain standards across all levels of the programme. This is a full-time permanent position, and the starting salary is £34,304 per annum.
