General Summary:
Clinical faculty in the Rush University College of Nursing work under the guidance and direction of the course director and the department Associate Chairperson or Chairperson. The educational activities of the clinical faculty member are course specific. This is an unranked, part-time faculty position. Faculty members function in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Rush University Medical Center and the College of Nursing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs the learning of students in clinical, classroom, and online courses.
Plans student assignments as necessary.
Evaluates student performance consistent with the course objectives and evaluation criteria.
Attends meetings deemed necessary to facilitate the educational program(s) and course objectives.
Is knowledgeable about the objectives of the education program and the specific course(s) being taught.
Maintains required competencies as determined by Rush University Medical Center and the College of Nursing.

Appointment:
Clinical faculty members are appointed by the department Chairperson.
Appointments are renewed annually.
Compensation is negotiated quarterly based on course assignments.

Evaluation: Performance is reviewed regularly by the course director and department Associate Chairperson or Chairperson.

Qualifications:
A professional nurse with a minimum of a master¡¦s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Specialization at the graduate level specific to the clinical area where the clinical faculty member will teach may be required.
Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
Current APN certification and licensure required as necessary.
Excellent clinical and communication skills.
Teaching experience preferred.
