The Content Acquisition Team of Wiley is offering a Commissioning Editor - Life Sciences position based in Beijing/Shanghai to drive and ensure special content (special issue, review articles, technique papers, etc.) growth for Wiley's Life Sciences program globally. The Commissioning Editor - Life Sciences will lead Wiley global Life Sciences special content program and be responsible for developing and managing a healthy pipeline of special content ideas and ongoing projects, and meeting agreed special content targets by working closely with Editorial, Content Management, Marketing, external editors and top researchers in Life Sciences. He/she will also play an important role in increasing overall Life Sciences program visibility in China through online and offline channels.

How will you make an impact:
  • Drive and oversee the strategic direction of special content program in global Life Sciences portfolio to reach agreed targets.
  • Commission and oversee special content in Life Sciences through various channels and ways.
  • Work closely with the research community globally to ensure special content that best fit the global portfolios in Life Sciences; establish a close collaboration with Wiley internal stakeholders to keep them informed of special content initiatives and seek inputs as needed.
  • Gather intel and provide data analysis required to solicit special content ideas and potential authors/guest editors
  • Increase Life Sciences program visibility in China through online and offline Channels.
  • Build and maintain strong connections with existing journal editorial connections and top researchers from key organizations in Life Sciences.
  • Represent the journal portfolio at events/conferences/webinars in Life Sciences.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of all interventions through regular recording in systems and tracking of meaningful KPIs
  • Report to line manager on results and challenges, actively proposing solutions.

We are looking for people who:
  • Master's degree in Life Sciences/Food Science & Technology/Agricultural Science/Environmental Sciences/Ecology/Plant science and other relevant subjects, PhD is preferred
  • Has relevant work experience, preferably in STM publishing. Fresh graduate with sound research background and good mindset is also welcomed.
  • Ability to initiate and track multiple projects at the same time.
  • A good team player within cross-functional global and local teams, be logical, independent, proactive and results driven.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English within a global environment.
  • Experience in working with the research community with extensive networks is preferred.
  • Detail and quality oriented, strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • The qualified candidate will be offered to associate commissioning editor/commissioning editor/senior commissioning editor position according to his/her expertise and working experience.
