Description
The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking a full-time academic Anatomic Pathologist with subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal (GI), Hepatic and Pancreatic Pathology. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, competence/expertise in a Pathology subspecialty. The selected candidate will be expected to work with medical students, residents and fellows working on GI pathology clinical services. Participation in autopsy service is expected. This position involves both independent and collaborative research with clinicians and basic science investigators, utilizing general surgical pathology and subspecialty skills in often complicated cases.

This appointment may be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, without tenure due to reasons of funding. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a full-time, 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2022, but is flexible.
Qualifications
Candidates must have subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal, Hepatic and Pancreatic pathology. Must have demonstrated excellence in teaching (didactic, conference-based and over-the-microscope). Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or -certified in Anatomic Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
