Dean of School Culture and Discipline
The International Leadership Charter High School is a high performing College Preparatory high school dedicated to providing an exceptional secondary school education to first and second-generation students to graduate college ready. The International Leadership Charter High School implements an academically rigorous Regents and college-preparatory curriculum that elevates students' intellectual capacity, and provides a superior high school education. Our Charter High school is in the Top 1% High School out of 500 NYC Public High Schools and Recipient of Bronze Award from U.S. News & World Report for Best High Schools nationally 2013 through 2020.
The Dean of School Culture and Discipline will be responsible for providing the leadership, guidance and supervision to sustain high levels of student behavior and academic performance. This position requires an ability to relate to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program. Able to model the charter school's standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism. Responsible to facilitate the culture of the school, including the development of student character and ensuring a positive and structured environment that creates the conditions for learning. This position requires an organized and consistent educator with a concrete vision of excellence, adult leadership experience, the ability to build outstanding relationships with stakeholders, and a talent for inspiring children to high expectations. The Dean of School Culture and Discipline will also work collaboratively with the CEO and Directors to ensure that a school culture is developed that supports high Academic and Behavioral expectations.
Specifically the Director will:
-Administer and enforce school policies related to discipline and student attendance
-Oversee and supervise the management of student attendance and discipline records
-Establish steps and procedures to handling challenging students and standards for conduct
--Communicate to parents, teachers and staff regarding infractions of the code of conduct, academic integrity or other policies
-Collaborate with the Director assigned to parent activities and concerns.
-Coordinate all student suspensions and student discharges as the need arises.
-Continuously monitor all student achievement and ensure effective instructional support.
-Identify students who are chronically violate the school's code of conduct.
-Identify students who are engaging in behavior that is intended to intimidate, bully, harass or otherwise threaten the well-being of students or adults at International Leadership CHS.
-Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
-Organize academic intervention programs, including afterschool detention, and lunch detention
-Mentor and council at-risk students and students in need of additional staff support
Qualifications and Skill:
-Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree preferred
-Have 3+ years of teaching experience with a proven record of high achievement and strong classroom management and culture
-1+ year experience as a Dean in an urban environment
-Exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents and staff
-Experience investigating complaints and grievances against faculty, staff and fellow students
-Experience determining fair consequences for students in violation of the code of conduct
-Physical and emotional endurance to support with challenging students; maintain emotional control under stress
-Ability to prepare and make effective presentations promoting programs within the school
-Ability to analyze data regarding the effectiveness of programs and initiatives within the school
-Comfortable administering consequences for violation of the code of conduct o academic integrity standards
-Demonstrate an ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize strategically
-Demonstrate a strong commitment to and alignment with the mission, beliefs, and values of ---International Leadership Charter School, and to going above and beyond the requirements of the job

The compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and a record of demonstrated success. We are seeking an individual of outstanding quality with a track record of positive outcomes. The International Leadership Charter High School is prepared to offer a compensation package commensurate with experience, to include a competitive base salary as well as health, dental, vision and 401 (K).
