Position: History Instructor Reports To: Head of Upper School



Division: Upper School FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Summary:

The Upper School History Instructor is responsible for teaching upper school students social studies curriculum with an enthusiasm, passion and commitment for teaching in a Christian environment. Subjects may include, but are not limited to: U.S. History, World History, Government, Psychology or Economics

Responsibilities:
  • Creates a classroom environment that fosters a desire to learn and develops a culture of excellence
  • Develops lesson plans based on MPCS curriculum guidelines
  • Works cooperatively with MPCS Instructional Coaches to learn feedback and continuously improve quality of instruction
  • Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions
  • Maintains overall professionalism adhering to the MPCS guidelines
  • Supports the value of an education founded in Christian values
  • Supports the philosophy and mission of Mount Pisgah Christian School





Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters or Doctoral degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience; independent Christian school preferred
  • Experience working as part of an academic team and facilitating a collaborative, trusting atmosphere among colleagues
  • A commitment to professional development and lifelong learning
  • A passion for integrating faith into academic discipline
  • A genuine ability to "connect" with and serve young people in a Christian community
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Athletic coaching experience or willingness to coach
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • An eagerness to serve in a faith-based academic environment

  • Manage equipment including phone, computer, cameras, video equipment and other electronic devices
  • Use muscles/limbs to Lift boxes/items under 30 lbs
  • Occasional night and weekend work in support of school activities
