GRO Biosciences (GRObio) is hiring a Scientist or Senior Scientist to advance products arising from the company's recoded organism platform. Recoded organisms enable GRObio to generate revolutionary products of unprecedented structural and chemical diversity. With the tools at GRObio, you'll be able to propose, develop, and implement completely differentiated solutions to longstanding, critical problems.

We are seeking someone with protein biochemistry and molecular biology experience who's interested in learning new things, "wearing many hats", and having a large impact on the growth of an early-stage company. Major responsibilities include experimental design and execution, protein purification development, protein characterization, data analysis, as well as the communication and the collaboration that are commensurate with a matrixed team. Experience in HT screen design and implementation is a plus. Ideal candidates are transparent, and able to think critically yet creatively about the company's strategies for therapeutic development. Other opportunities include managing outsourced studies to generate value-adding data packages.

  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed research environment
  • Design and clone constructs for a variety of applications
  • Develop and optimize protein assays, including functional, binding, and cellular assays
  • Manage outsourced projects with CROs and external collaborators
  • Diligently record progress in our electronic lab notebook and LIMS systems
  • Clearly communicate results and recommendations with team both in-person and online

  • Flexibility and courage to work in new and unfamiliar areas

Requisite experience
  • PhD degree, or MS degree plus at least 5 years' experience, in biology, microbiology, protein biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or related field
  • Significant research experience in at least three of the following areas: Recombinant bacterial strain creation, HT strain analysis, Protein purification, Protein biochemistry, Protein assay design, Cell culture and in vitro assays, i n vivo disease models

Preferred experience
  • Post-doctoral and/or industrial work experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of immunology
  • Experience in scalable bacterial culture and/or protein purification
  • Familiarity with automation methods and equipment
  • Proficiency with protein modeling tools
  • Mentorship experience
