POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Procurement Partner is the leader responsible for developing and driving the Procurement vision with key colleagues in the division. The individual will be a key partner to the divisional operations leader with a focus on strategy, execution and implementation. In this position, you will facilitate the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost. You will mitigate risk, use technology, improve processes and systems, and reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and implement short & long-term goals, strategic plans, policies and procedures for the Division aligned with the Group performance metrics

Deliver on key objectives, delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments

Coordinate and implement long range strategies with the business partners across the Division

Partner with Category Managers, Research and Design and engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage

Partner with Supply Chain to create demand plans for supplier partners

Work closely with Shared Service and Procure to Pay process team to ensure efficient end to end delivery models

Coordination of business projects and programs, monitoring execution and presenting results to senior leaders

Ensure alignment with business colleagues within the Group and Division on projects

Serve as the leader and ensure the implementation of Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk and Supplier Management

Capture division business requirements and assures compliance to regulatory requirements

Engage with Supplier Partners, ensuring capacity to meet demand and work with Category Management to close gaps

Drive and supervise compliance for indirect materials

Use 'scouting approach' to influence Research and Design and Commercial partners earlier in New Product Introduction process, monitor product pipeline, support product platforming

Serve as escalation point of contact for Procurement within the Division, partner with Category Management as required

Consolidate, analyze and report on divisional procurement metrics for business reviews

Provide division input to category strategies (Global, Group specific) and support implementation of aligned strategies

Engage with supplier leadership (Vice President, GM, President, Functional and Operations) to tackle business problems and assure alignment with Thermo Fisher objectives

Develop and assess purchasing talent and improve resource efficiency

Mentor and develop staff through coaching and development plans

Implement talent initiatives to improve employee engagement results

Drive the development and implementation of common processes, standardized practices, use of tools and technologies that can scaled company wide

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management, Business Logistics or a related area or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 12 years of procurement/sourcing experience
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of colleagues
  • Significant intuition for business and proven team building skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information
  • Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach
  • Strong procurement and sourcing background
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of operations
  • 5+ years' experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Progressively responsible career path in manufacturing operations and procurement with significant practical experience in international settings
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to empower global constituents to meet business objectives, and possess strong presentation skills at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust
