Psychology Faculty Position

DEPARTMENT: Social Sciences

REPORTS TO: Associate Provost and Dean of the Faculty

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Full time

MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.

SUMMARY: Primary responsibly is teaching undergraduate psychology courses both on the main Corban University campus and at the Corban Extension inside the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Teach at least 24 credits of the following courses: General Psychology, Philosophy of Psychology, Psychology and Christianity, Counseling Skills, Psychology of Addiction, Counseling Theories, Christian Counseling, and other psychology courses as needed.
* Teach the subject matter in a manner that is consistent with the universitys Statement of Faith with particular attention to the statement on creation.
* Be committed to the integration of biblical principles within the discipline of Psychology and be willing to invest him/herself in the development of undergraduate students.
* Active in academic advising, curriculum and program development, and university and departmental committee work.
* Be an active scholar/professional, excellent teacher, active in service to the university and the community, and able to model the integration of faith and learning.
* Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Learning Management Systems
* Microsoft Office Suite
* Zoom rooms for remote learners
* Collaboration with colleagues
* Secure required security clearances and passes for admittance into OSCI
* Clear understanding of and willingness to work with incarcerated adult students and external stakeholders in a productive manner

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

* Doctorate in the area of Psychology or related field is preferred. The successful candidate without a doctorate will be expected to complete a doctoral program.
* Significant experience in a field related to Psychology is required and college teaching experience is preferred.
* Candidate should have strong teaching and leadership skills and have a demonstrated record of active participation in professional organizations. Applicants with backgrounds in agencies that serve the community will be prioritized.
* The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian faith, be in agreement with the Universitys statement of faith, be committed to the integration of biblical principles within the discipline of Psychology and be willing to invest him/herself in the development of undergraduate students.
* The psychology program places great value in collaboration and, therefore, desires candidates who have the same teamwork and collaborative values.
* Candidates should value an environment that reflects the diversity of Gods kingdom, engages in global concerns, and connects culturally.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Traditional college environment and inside teaching at a correctional facility which requires extra security training and protocols. Some weekend/evening work related to events on and off campus.
