Job Description
The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at William James College aims to bridge the needs of organizations, the profession, and the community by providing high quality education and training that prepare providers to meet the demand for culturally competent behavioral health care across the nation. Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President for Workforce Initiatives, the Associate Director of Research will manage all workforce development research and program evaluation initiatives for the CWD. They will be responsible for the design, conduct, and reporting of CWD's research projects as well as monitoring and ensuring the integrity of research-based collaborations with partner agencies and funders. The Associate Director of Research will also supervise research assistants; oversee the direction, management, and compliance of CWD's research projects; and coordinate with internal departments to assure that all research-related activities are conducted in accordance with federal regulations and WJC's and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Principal Investigator for grant-funded research projects for the Center for Workforce Development.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all research and program evaluation initiatives on behavioral health workforce development.
  • Supervise research assistants, junior staff, and graduate students engaged in CWD's research and program evaluation efforts.
  • Ensure that all key personnel involved in sponsored program administration have met training requirements in accordance with federal regulations and WJC's and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the research team to help ensure ethical conduct in all aspects of the research process including, but not limited to, the treatment of human subjects, conflicts of interest, data acquisition, management, sharing and ownership, publication practices, responsible authorship, and collaborative research and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure successful communication and coordination between the CWD and other key stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive and productive relationships with students, staff, faculty, internal departments and programs, and external partner agencies.
  • Work as part of a team to develop and implement project plans and timelines and ensure that project deliverables are high-quality and completed in a timely manner.
  • Use creativity and knowledge to develop, enhance, and improve program evaluation methodologies, processes, and approaches.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports for submission to funders and application materials for Human Subjects Committee review.
  • Write and submit grant proposals for new research-related activities, including assisting in the preparation of contract proposals.
  • Disseminate scientific articles and manuscripts on workforce development and other related topics.
  • Present research findings in meetings, seminars, conferences, and other professional settings.
  • Perform other tasks, as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related social sciences field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in applied research and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program administration skills.
  • Experience collaborating with community-based agencies and engaging in workforce development efforts with culturally diverse populations and underserved communities.
  • A strong commitment to promoting diversity and multicultural competence in an educational, research, and work environment.
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative data collection tools and research methodologies (e.g., surveys, structured and open-ended interviews, focus groups, and observations).
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods and their application to research.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Adept at research and analysis and possess excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to use editing and publishing tools effectively; and produce high-quality scholarly work.
  • Familiarity with database management and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Qualtrics, and NVivo).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and other web-based tools.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
