Job Description
Position: Health Science Technology Instructor-Secondary Technical Center
Job Summary:
This is a nine-month academic instructor position for the SouthArk Secondary Technical Center. This position is one of two faculty positions which are responsible for the Center's Health Science Technology program. The coursework involved prepares high school juniors and seniors to learn basic health care skills and allows them the opportunity to explore a variety of health care fields. The courses to be taught include, but are not limited to, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, CPR & First Aid, and CNA coursework
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develops, revises, and evaluates program curriculum.
· Completes and submits program documents required by SouthArk.
· Assures that the program abides by Secondary Technical Center and SouthArk policies, procedures, and guidelines.
· Assists with the development of both short and long-range plans focusing on program success.
· Collaborates with the Dean of Career Education, Director of Nursing Programs, and the Dean of Health Sciences in the coordination and scheduling of program courses each semester.
· Delivers instruction to students based on program course needs.
· Coordinates with the Dean of Career and Technical Education and faculty members to develop course curriculum and maintain current master and course syllabi per college policy.
· Works together with Health Science Technology (HST) faculty members to perform assessment of nursing courses and submission of course assessment reports as per college policy.
· Maintains a comprehensive system of records for administration, faculty and students as per college policy.
· Works with the Dean of Career and Technical Education in preparation and implementation of program budget.
· Serves on college committees and attends meetings as appointed.
· Develops and implements policies related to admission, retention, and progression of students.
· Provides academic advisement to students.
· Assists with development and implementation of student recruitment strategies.
· Assesses and evaluates student retention and attrition to include processes for retention improvement.
· Concerning CNA students, collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator and Director of Nursing Programs to establish and maintain affiliation agreements with clinical agencies.
· Collaborates with faculty to procure and implement the use of equipment, supplies, electronic technology, applicable software, and learning resources for class, lab, and/or clinical delivery and enhancement.
· Collaborates with the Dean of Career and Technical Education and the Director of Nursing Programs to ensure efficient use of instructional resources to facilitate student progress toward meeting instructional objectives.
· Participates in scholarly and service activities that include current nursing education and professional development.
· Participates in bi-annual program advisory committee meetings, including collaboration to assess the needs of the community and respond appropriately.
· Promotes additional educational experiences for students.
· Participates in nursing faculty meetings.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
The individual should (1) possess the knowledge and skills necessary to present program curriculum, (2) be able to operate the program's medical equipment, and (3) possess the skills and abilities to utilize programmatic computer software and online curriculum supplements.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a Health Science field/3 years' experience in a Health Science setting/Recent Long-Term Care experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a Health Science field/5 years' experience in a Health Science setting/Recent Long-Term Care experience/Teaching experience
Physical Requirements:
The individual must be able to stand for long periods of time. The individual must be able to operate all program equipment. The individual must be able to lift 30 pounds.
