The college is located minutes from downtown Rochester, New York, a city noted for its rich arts and cultural community and its international businesses and industry. Applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The department seeks an experienced teacher-scholar to help re-envision the Communication & Media major, including its relationship to our English major. Against the backdrop of new strategic priorities at Nazareth College, we are seeking to reshape our programs to take advantage of faculty expertise in media, rhetoric, and literary and cultural studies. The ideal candidate will be interested in and capable of developing a communication program that is skill-based, interdisciplinary, culturally aware, and grounded in inclusive excellence. We are particularly interested in candidates who focus on media studies as an interdisciplinary field, with additional expertise in communication, rhetoric, journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or advertising. Special attention will be given to candidates who also address issues of bias, marginalization, and ethics in their teaching, scholarship, and service records. We seek to hire faculty with a demonstrated commitment to affirming the core values of the institution in developing equity-minded and socially just leaders.

The successful candidate will teach courses in media and communication, such as Introduction to Media Studies, Communication/Media Theory, Research Methods, Social Media, Writing for Digital Media, and Senior Seminar. As a likely program director, the candidate should also be ready to promote and grow the program; conduct learning outcomes assessment; recruit, train, and supervise part-time instructors; and cultivate internship and professional development opportunities for students, among other related duties.

The standard teaching load is four courses per semester (generally three preparations with one double section). The Communication & Media Program director receives a one course reassignment per semester.

Proof of COVID vaccination is required for employment at Nazareth College, except in cases of approved exemptions.
