Job Description
About Us

Shattuck Labs (www.shattucklabs.com) is developing breakthrough therapies for immunotherapy, which harnesses the human immune system to improve survival for patients battling cancer and inflammatory disease. Shattuck has pioneered the development of dual-sided Fc fusion proteins with the Agonist Redirected Checkpoint (ARC) platform technology. Two compounds from the platform are currently being tested in clinical trials (SL-279252 and SL-172154). In multiple published studies (Fromm et al., JITC 2018, de Silva et al., CIR 2019), ARC therapeutics have significantly outperformed traditional antibody-based therapies, and we believe that the dual-functionality of the ARC platform positions our product candidates with best-in-class potential as compared to traditional antibody therapeutics. Over 300 product candidates have been generated from the ARC platform and are poised for IND-enabling studies. Shattuck Labs, based in Austin, Texas, is a publicly traded biotechnology company (STTK) founded in 2016. The R&D hub for Shattuck Labs is based in Research Triangle Park, NC.

About the Position

Shattuck Labs is seeking a highly motivated individual that will join a dynamic R&D team in Research Triangle Park, NC to support the planning, development, and execution of molecular, cellular, and animal experiments, designed to prioritize candidates in the ARC pipeline. The candidate is expected to be an expert in animal handling, cell culture, nucleic acid delivery, and flow cytometry based immune phenotyping assays. Experience with a number of the assay platforms described below is essential, but training will also be given on platforms that are less familiar. The key attributes the candidate will have, are the ability and willingness to learn new technologies quickly, and to become the in-house expert on these platforms within Shattuck. The candidate will use these platforms to drive their own independent research as well as to train their colleagues, with the goal of prioritizing therapeutic candidates within Shattuck's pipeline. The candidate is expected to be able to work independently, on teams, and patiently train colleagues on assay protocols and equipment usage. The individual will have a strong foundation in protein biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology, nucleic acid therapeutics, cancer biology, and assay development. Previous experience in the biotech setting is required. This position will report to the Principal Scientist of R&D. This is a full-time position based in Research Triangle Park, NC. Shattuck will provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • Mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, cell sorting, DNA plasmid propagation (E.coli mini/maxi preps), plasmid restriction digest/gel evaluation, western blot analysis, stable cell line generation
  • Understanding of the following:
Fc-fusion proteins, monoclonal antibodies, bi-specifics, nucleic acid formulation and therapeutic delivery
  • Hands-on experience with murine in vivo tumor models, drug delivery (IP, IV, IT), tissue necropsy/evaluation, and other endpoint analyses
  • Knowledge of in vivo assays used to model and translate dosing, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic activity to clinical development plans

Other Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to conference abstracts, and IND preclinical reports; prepare study summaries, method protocols and/or reports. Facilitate method transfer to CROs
