Position Summary:

The College invites applications for an Annually Contracted Faculty position in Aviation that will begin August 2022.

The Department has three Associate Degree Programs: Aviation Technology, Aircraft Maintenance, and Professional Pilot & Airway Science, as well as certificate programs for Flight Attendants, UAS Operators, and Aircraft Dispatchers.

Annually Contracted Faculty (ACF) appointments are full-time, temporary positions limited to one academic year. Appointments are not automatically awarded for subsequent years, but rather, are awarded on a year-by-year basis at the sole discretion of Sinclair Community College.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • The primary responsibilities of an Annually Contracted Faculty position are to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester; to work closely with the department chair to implement the policies of the department and college; to participate in department, division and college-wide meetings; to maintain office hours and respond to student inquiries in a timely and effective manner; and to respond to requests from the chair and dean as appropriate.
  • Committee service is not required.
  • Classroom duties to include teaching classes associated with aircraft maintenance
  • Classroom and lab duties to include teaching airframe, powerplant, and general aviation maintenance classes/labs which prepare students for FAA examination and FAA A&P certification.
  • Requirements
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Aviation or related field is required OR must meet the specific requirements associated with Tested Experience
  • Tested Experience Requirements:
  • A Minimum of a High School diploma or GED required AND widely accepted experience specific to the field of the course to be taught AND
  • Must possess an appropriate industry license, credential, or certification required (FAA A&P Certificates)
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience
  • FAA A & P certificate required with Inspection Authorization preferred
  • A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • Effective communication skills
  • The capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
