Duties/Responsibilities
Please approximate the percentage of time spent on each task (out of 100%) during a typical work week. List these tasks in order of importance, with the most critical task coming first. Do not list more than 6 entries do not go below 5% time per assigned duty.

Develop assays for the rapid molecular detection of azole-resistant strains of Aspergillus fumigatus in environmental samples and monitor antifungal resistance of human pathogens in agricultural environments.

Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary
This position in the Department of Plant Pathology will work on antifungal resistance monitoring of human pathogens in agricultural environments. Projects include development of assays for the rapid molecular detection of azole-resistant strains of Aspergillus fumigatus in environmental samples, identification of environments conducive to azole resistance development, and identifying fitness costs of azole resistance in fungi in agricultural environments.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Doctorate in Genetics, Biology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology or a related field. Molecular diagnostic research experience and experience working with fungi or other microorganisms. Previous field work experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a publication record.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Physical Demands
Carry out field work under various environmental conditions, and standard laboratory and greenhouse work. Travel to field sites will be required.
