Manages a complex Student Affairs or Student Life & Development function and / or program or several smaller programs. Develops the long-term organizational goals and strategic plans of the organization. Directs subordinate supervisors and / or managers. Has broad program responsibility. Oversees the program analysis and evaluation. Manages the budget and human resources. Represents the organization with external organizations. Evaluated on overall program results and effectiveness. Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor / Dean of Students, the Associate Dean of Students has ultimate management oversight and supervisory responsibility for the following University program areas: Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs, Center for Student Leadership, FRESH Basic Needs Hub, Sorority & Fraternity Life, Student Outreach & Retention, and Sustainability Resource Center. Planning, development, organization, direction, implementation, review, monitoring, and evaluation of the various elements required for the successful and efficient operation of various event and activities for Student Life & Leadership - The Associate Dean of Students makes recommendations to the Assistant Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students regarding campus policies, strategic plans, learning objectives impacting the co-curricular involvement of students and their organizations. In the absence of the Assistant Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students, the incumbent may be asked to represent the department as a member of the Vice Chancellor's Management Group (VCMG) and to participate in the development of the division's goals, objectives, policies, and management strategies. *Compensation Range:* Commensurate on experience *Department Website:* [ *Required:* A minimum of seven (7) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experienceMaster's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Strong skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements. Strong skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Ability in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership, and intercultural competence. Thorough knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. Advanced knowledge of and experience with student development theory demonstrated by significant prior experience successfully addressing a wide range of student issues in higher education. Strong leadership skills demonstrated by the ability to teach, influence, persuade, and inspire others to take action based on a vision and strategic objectives. Effective personnel management, negotiation, creativity, public speaking, and media relations skills. Has the ability to make and stand behind unpopular decisions. Experience with campus and department policy development and interpretation Thorough understanding of diversity and ability to assist in the continuing development of a campus community that values and has mutual respect for diversity. Excellent political acumen demonstrated by the ability to successfully navigate complex networks of relationships and to work with a high level of cultural competence and sensitivity to achieve departmental and division-wide goals. Outstanding communication skills demonstrated by the ability to interact comfortably with a wide range of diverse people, including professional staff, students, faculty, parents, system-wide colleagues, community partners, and media. This includes the ability to write clearly and concisely in different styles as appropriate to the audience Superior judgment, demonstrated by the ability to balance numerous demands, evaluate competing priorities and adjust planning as needed. Excellent organizational skills including the ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, define problems, propose and implement effective solutions and prioritize competing priorities. Exceptional critical thinking skill demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges. Leadership experience demonstrated by creating cross-campus partnerships and collaborations with other colleagues. Effectively oversee and complete several on-going projects in a fast paced work environment. *Preferred:* Advanced degree in related area preferred.Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. *Special Conditions Required:* May be required to work evenings or weekends. *Conditions of Employment:*
