Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Chatham University is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to begin Fall 2022. This position will serve to advance the integrity and rigor of this continually expanding program into one of distinction and accreditation. Emphasis will be placed on preparing future clinicians to serve patients or clients with evidence-based practice to ensure positive outcomes based on each individual. Responsibilities and Duties:

The Exercise Science Program is housed in the School of Health Science and in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training. Primary responsibilities including teaching undergraduate exercise science courses, as well as other courses in the candidate's area of expertise that align with departmental teaching needs. Additional responsibilities will include advising for undergraduate students and service towards the department, school, university, and profession. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active research program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or related field. Candidates who are ABD at the time of application may be considered. Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2022.
  • A commitment to undergraduate teaching and research mentoring.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience with scholarly research to include peer-reviewing, author or coauthoring, presenting, and advising student research.
  • Service at a local, state, regional professional level.
  • Experience with the accreditation process for exercise science programs.
