Overview

A Robotics & Automation Instructor will be responsible for the effective training of the Robotics & Automation curriculum in the classroom and laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

* Assist in developing and updating curriculum and laboratory projects
* Conduct classroom and shop training utilizing proper instructional techniques, practices and following approved curriculum
* Utilize equipment and training aids in daily lessons
* Order required supplies and tools
* Report all damaged or missing instructional equipment
* Ensure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean and orderly
* Store all unused training aids and supplies in approved areas
* Maintain student attendance and grade rosters
* Prepare class lessons and test in a timely manner
* Design training aids and mock-ups in area of instructor expertise
* Administer tests and make-up tests per MIAT procedures manual
* Conduct make-up classes as scheduled
* Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures and safety practices
* Ensure that a professional training environment is maintained in the classroom and shop areas at all times
* Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Education

Qualifications

Education

* Associate degree required
* Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience

* 4 years prior experience in the field required
* 5-10 years prior experience in the field preferred
* Autodesk Inventor experience preferred
* Programmable Logic Control experience preferred
* Industrial Networking experience a plus
* Teaching experience a plus

Skills and Abilities

* Ability to teach students of various ages and diverse backgrounds
* Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Excellent customer service skills
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)
* Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information
* Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientation
* Must be self-motivated
* Must be able to work alone or with a team

Performance Standards

* Instructors will be evaluated on their ability to promote and implement the objective of the school
* Assure that the curriculum is adhered to, and delivered with motivation and enthusiasm
* Proper monitoring of all equipment, supplies and tools to ensure the safety of the students
* Ensure that student morale is maintained at a high level
* Maintain control of the classroom and handle student day to day issues
* Maintain a good standing on student and lab equipment evaluations
* All internal and external reports and forms have been accurately completed and submitted in a timely fashion
* Maintain an annual average of 95% student retention
* Instructor evaluations will be done twice a year by management
* Instructors evaluations will be done by students every quarter

Working Conditions

* Majority of time spent in education environment
* Work will consist an 8-hour day, 75% teaching and 25% administration
* Appropriate safety measures must be followed
* Exposure to chemicals that are standard to the industry
