The Analytical Senior Scientist is expected to execute technical strategies in analytical chemistry within the US Wellness organization. This role will be focused on supporting the development and commercialization of new dietary supplement, botanical, and herbal products for brands such as Centrum, Emergen-C, and Chapstick. The Analytical Senior Scientist is expected to lead analytical activities on projects and requires previous experience in the analysis of vitamins, minerals, botanicals, and herbals. This role requires moderately complex problem-solving skills, experience in method development/validation/transfer, and engagement with third party testing sites/CRO partners. This role is familiar with aspects of raw material testing, LC, GC, ICP-OES, Mass Spectrometry and other well-established detection technology. The role requires close collaboration with scientists in Product Development, Quality, Commercial, and Regulatory teams.

  • Being an engaged expert on the testing of vitamins, minerals, botanicals and herbals in various finished product dosage forms who executes the technical aspects of analytical development.
  • Having advanced knowledge of varied aspects or a specialized aspect of an analytical science and a working knowledge of principles and concepts in other relevant scientific disciplines. Applying technical and functional knowledge to design experiments, assist in project design, and independently complete tasks.
  • Acting as a scientific resource within the Wellness organization; Serving as a scientific and technical colleague who interfaces with internal and external partners.
  • Successfully performing and directing method development / validation / transfer activities for various finished dosage forms, without supervision.
  • Leading or participating in due diligence, new business opportunities and product assessments as required.
  • Producing effective presentations and possessing writing skills to tailor messages to a variety of audiences as appropriate (e.g. external, commercial, management, scientific).
  • Consistently recognizing atypical data and chromatography and resolving the issues.
  • Troubleshooting difficult instrumentation issues.


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience; OR MS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; OR PhD degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced in separation sciences
  • Experience with leading analytical development activities for the development and commercialization of new OTC products
  • Experience and knowledge of Regulatory and GMP Quality management system standards


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Experience (5+ years) in the Dietary Supplements, Botanical, or Herbal products industry
  • ability to critically evaluate data and develop strategies for problem solving
  • Proficiency in ELN and Empower software
  • Good communication and organization skills
