Job Type: 1 Full-Time Nurse and 1 Part-Time Nurse
Hours: Includes weekdays, every other weekend, 1 st and 2 nd shifts
Setting: Private Therapeutic Boarding School in Madison, CT
Qualifications: RN (preferred) or LPN
Private therapeutic boarding school looking for a caring and compassionate nurse who enjoys working with middle school, high school, and young adult age children. The role of the nurse requires strong assessment skills to evaluate specific complaints, administrative work updating students electronic health records, administering medications per providers orders, and establishing rapport with students and their families. The nurse works closely with the school psychiatric providers, clinicians, teachers, and administrators to meet the medical and emotional needs of the students.
Responsibilities:
Provides first aid to students and obtains accurate vital signs, heights and weights.
Administers medication ordered by physician and authorized by parents.
Serves as consultant to school personnel and parents in regard to health needs of students
Maintains up-to-date in-house electronic health records
Need to be able to pass a DMV (DOT) physical to transport students to appointments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Must be licensed as an RN or LPN in CT and maintain yearly state license renewal.
Must be proficient with using a computer and documenting in an Electronic Health Record.
Must possess and maintain a valid CT drivers license.
Applicant must be able to pass DCF, criminal state, FBI and DMV background checks.
