Programmable DNA, the software of Life, is finally here! Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, everyday chemicals are made using the atmosphere as the carbon source, plants make their own fertilizers, in-vivo diagnostics will alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.

In collaboration with lab operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the IgG production management system. The ideal candidate will work independently, be very neat and organized, have experience with SQL or JSON, and have an understanding of data structures. Additionally, a strong understanding of molecular biology, a desire to contribute to process improvement and documentation, and strong communication skills are highly desired. Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLPs) is important.

As a Software Engineer at Twist, you will be working on the most essential system that drives IgG production. You will have a significant impact throughout the company and your passion will be quickly felt and recognized.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Debug, update, and maintain production tracking in an established Lab Management software
  • Work with the software development team to communicate process changes and requirements
  • Regularly communicate production needs with third-party vendors
  • Triage and troubleshoot production incidents in coordination with automation and product development teams at Twist
  • Create training processes, maintain training records, and train teams of operators
Education And/or Experience
  • Preferably a Bachelor's of Computer Science, biology, chemistry or biochemistry, or relevant industry experience
  • Experience with JSON and SQL
  • Experience with Benchling, specifically creating and maintaining schemas is highly desirable
  • Able to make new lab automation run schemas (JSON)
  • Knowledge of wet lab processes
  • Experience in antibody production workflows is a bonus
  • Must be experienced using lab automation
  • Understand the data integration across platform and how data flows through the system
  • Ability to work in an ISO, GMP, LEAN MFG environment and follow the lean manufacturing concept
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours/ work a flexible shift as needed
  • This Position will start as an in-office position, with the possibility to transition to a hybrid position.
