Description of Duties:

SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College ofEngineering'sDepartment ofNetwork and Computer Security (Cybersecurity)invites applications for a full-timetenure-trackAssistant, Associate or Full Professor, or tenure track InstructorofNetwork and Computer Security.The successful applicant willsupport our B.S. and M.S. programs in Network and Computer Security which contain engineering-based cybersecurity coursework that address critical national and regional workforce needs and offer our graduates excellent employment opportunities.

We are eager to hear from candidates withdemonstrated commitments both teaching and research, and a commitment to cultivating diversity inthe university and professional work environment.

The successful applicant will support our B.S. and M.S. programs in Network and Computer Security which contain engineering-based cybersecurity coursework that address critical national and regional workforce needs and offer our graduates excellent employment opportunities. Specific duties include: 1) Teach courses in the areas of Network and Computer Security (NCS) as well as actively develop new curriculum, 2) Work with the faculty of the department on future accreditation activities, 3) Engage with students in club and other extracurricular activities, 4) Assist with development andmaintenance of networking and computing infrastructure used for teaching and 5) Serve the College and community through outreach activities.

The tenure track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position also requires the successful applicant to develop an externally funded scholarly research program incorporating both undergraduate and graduate students. Funded programs that include academic, industry or government lab collaborations are encouraged.

During the first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load to include two classes per semester can be anticipated, providing an opportunity to establish a research program and develop courses.

Otherresponsibilities include contributing to the assessment and continued development ofNetwork and Computer Securitycourses, and contributing to the University community through committee service and other activities.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field from a college or university accredited by the United Stated Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Applicants must have a strong commitment to academic and scholarly achievement. The successful candidate will have high potential for teaching excellence and preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching cybersecurity courses. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop an externally funded scholarly research program. While all areas of expertise will be considered, applicants who demonstrate the potential to establish an externally funded research program in the field of cybersecurity and information assurance are especially encouraged to apply. Areas of focus among SUNY Poly faculty include research in cloud security, biometrics, machine learning, 5G security, cryptography, and mitigating cyber risks in advanced manufacturing.

Applicants for the Instructor rank must have a M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field and cybersecurity expertise in real-world information technology (I.T.) and cybersecurity operations. The successful candidate will have a background that shows high potential for teaching excellence, student engagement, and hands-on lab development for the undergraduate curriculum.

Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the collegiate level, several years of industrial experience, and/or a strong research background. The successful candidates' experience and interests are expected to complement those ofexisting faculty and able to support a breadth of disciplines within cybersecurity at SUNY Poly.
