Professor / Associate Professor: Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy

In partnership with the Western Cape Government, Department of Health, we are seeking to appoint someone who will provide vision and leadership which will enhance our position as a leading Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Appointment is made on the joint establishment of Stellenbosch University and the Provincial Government Western Cape on the conditions of service of the University.

  • Providing collaborative leadership to develop and implement a divisional research strategy;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of teaching and learning strategies across the programme;
  • Teaching theory and clinical modules;
  • Research supervision, primarily of master¿s and doctoral candidates;
  • Conducting research, disseminating research outputs and translating knowledge for social impact;
  • Securing research grants and contributing to other revenue streams;
  • Participating in the internationalisation efforts of the institution;
  • Participating in clinical service delivery commitments;
  • Expanding and strengthening collaborations;
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff;
  • Academic administration.

  • A doctorate relevant to the field of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy;
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a speech-language therapist, or speech-language therapist and audiologist, or audiologist;
  • Proven research and publication record in refereed journals;
  • Teaching, clinical training and examining experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Record of successful postgraduate supervision at doctoral level;
  • A proven record of independent and innovative research, research funding and guidance of postgraduate research;
  • Project management of research;
  • Proven leadership ability.

A doctorate relevant to the field of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy;

Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a speech-language therapist, or speech-language therapist and audiologist, or audiologist;

Proven research and publication record in refereed journals;

Teaching, clinical training and examining experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

Record of successful postgraduate supervision at doctoral level;

A proven record of independent and innovative research, research funding and guidance of postgraduate research;

Project management of research;

Proven leadership ability.
