Red Hat Linux System Administration, Department of Cybersecurity - Adjunct Faculty - Remote

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach online in the Computer Networking and Security program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course:

Red Hat Linux System Administration I (CMIT 388): (Designed to help prepare for the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification exam. Development of the key foundational skills needed by an RHCSA-certified Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrator. Focus is on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to become a Linux systems expert or Linux system administrator. Discussion covers advanced command line concepts and enterprise-level tools introduced in CMIT 291 and intended for cybersecurity professionals who need to perform essential Linux Administration tasks including installation, configuring networking connectivity, managing physical storage, automation/programmability, and performing security administration tasks.

Required Education and Experience

• Masters degree in Computer Networking degree or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Five (5) years of professional related experience, for example:
• Systems engineering and administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
• Administration experience of network infrastructure services such as DNS and mail
• VMware technologies administration such as vSphere and vCenter
• Administration experience with web servers preferably Oracle WebLogic
• Experience working in a production environment; trouble tickets, change management, problem resolution, providing support in off-hours
• Networking concepts such as firewalls, VLANs, and switching
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
• This position is specifically to teach online.

• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.

Faculty Training at UMGC
