The Siegelin lab within the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology is hiring a postdoctoral research scientist to begin immediately. The lab has a significant translational research focus and investigates novel treatments for malignant brain tumors by interrogating tumor cell metabolism, the epigenome and cell death mechanisms. To study these aspects, cell culture (stem-like glioblastoma cells, patient-derived xenograft cultures) and orthotopic glioblastoma in vivo models are being used as the main models. Genetic approaches, including but not limited to lentiviral/adenoviral based gene silencing (shRNA)/knock-out (CRISPR/Cas9)/overexpression techniques are implicated in our studies. Genetic and epigenetic techniques include ATAC-seq, CHIP-seq, RNA-seq or standard microarray analysis with basic bioinformatics skills. Metabolism is mainly investigated by extracellular flux analysis and stable isotope tracing studies.
