About this Role:

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology (https://www.vet.k-state.edu/education/dmp/) and Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (http://www.ksvdl.org/) at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine are offering a 3-year residency in veterinary clinical pathology.

The position is available starting August 1, 2022. The goals of the residency program are to prepare trainees for a career as veterinary clinical pathologists via a solid understanding of the pathologic basis of disease, laboratory methods, and quality control, as well as prepare residents for successful completion of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists certification examination.

Duties / Responsibilities:

The vast majority of the resident's effort will be devoted to clinical pathology training including diagnostic service, teaching, small group discussions/rounds, peer mentoring of Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Diagnostic Medicine Interns, and independent study. Other scholarly activities may include, but are not limited to, presentations at regional and national meetings, case reports, review articles, and textbook chapters.
The successful candidate will join a team of three clinical pathologists in a full-service clinical pathology laboratory providing testing for hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, and immunodiagnostics such as flow cytometry. The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology is multi-disciplinary in nature with areas of emphasis including infectious disease and molecular medicine.
Motivated and qualified individuals have the opportunity to pursue additional graduate studies through the Master of Science degree in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences and tuition assistance is available through the employee benefits program.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

DVM or equivalent degree by August 1, 2022
At least one year of post-DVM clinical or diagnostic experience is desirable, but not required
The chosen candidate for the position will be required to obtain Kansas veterinary licensure through the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners (https://kbve.kansas.gov/).
