*Job Title:*Massage Therapy Instructor and Program Director
*Type of Position:*Faculty
*Responsibilities:*This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering instruction of the Massage Therapy program. The Massage Therapy Program Director is a leadership position that translates the strategic directions from the Dean and Executive Leadership Team into practical implementations that affect student success. This will include participation in content development, arranging lab and clinical experiences, teaching courses, and maintaining supplies and equipment. The programs must meet the guidelines of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.
• Teaches the minimum load of instructional hours each semester as detailed in the Faculty Handbook

• Recommend class schedules each semester for courses in the program

• Assist in advisement, recruitment, and retention of students in the program

• Monitor and complete degree plans for graduating students within the program

• Assist the associate dean or dean in assigning faculty workloads within the department

• Develop and revise curriculum for the program in coordination with the faculty and program advisory committee

• Create and maintain an advisory committee hosting meetings annually or biannually

• Informally evaluate faculty performance in the program

• Coordinate and recommend departmental requests for instructional materials, supplies, facilities, and capital outlay for departmental budget

• Recruit, review, and recommend faculty for employment and termination within the program

• Assist newly employed, full-time and part-time instructors in their teaching duties and offer guidance for the improvement of instruction within the program

• Serve as the principle liaison between business partners, community agencies, and advisory committee members

• Resolves issues that arise with students

• Monitors compliance with policies and procedures of the College, TDLR, and the THECB

• Reports to the dean and informs the dean of decisions involving changes in the department and issues related to other campuses• Develops and implements strategies that support program completion, job placement, and/or transfer opportunities for students, when appropriate

• Creates and approves program goals that support the goals of the institution

• Initiates and maintains communication with colleagues, administrative staff, faculty, students, industry, external community, and state agencies

• Keeps current on trends, issues, and initiatives in the divisions' related fields of education that affect teaching and learning within the program

• Identifies best practices and curriculum changes in collaboration with advisory committee, along with reviewing of educational literature and analysis community needs

• Collaborates with program directors and faculty to develop and implement innovative partnerships, e.g., healthcare providers/agencies, industry partners, governmental agencies, and educational partners

•The Program Director utilizes specific resources to achieve instructional goals of the division; leads and evaluates the program, coordinates continuous improvement initiatives; and uses experience, best practices, plans, processes, and teams to produce clear deliverables and outputs

*Qualifications:*• Must possess a current Texas license to practice as a Massage Therapist

• Must possess a valid Massage Therapy Instructor's License

• Must have 3 years work experience in Massage Therapy• Associate degree in a health science related field preferred

• Knowledge of Massage Therapy Basic Curriculum Outline, Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics as defined by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).
• Knowledge of MBLEx exam content.

• Experience teaching adult students preferred

• Experience teaching Massage Therapy preferred

• Experience with basic computer applications, general office equipment, and equipment related to the massage practice.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Self-motivated, independent worker.

• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing.

• Interest in working in a college setting.

• Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team.

• Must be able to lift, move, and/or carry up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

• Use of manual dexterity

• Primarily, indoor classroom, simulation laboratory, and community settings

• Employee will come in direct contact with Lamar State College Orange staff, students and the public

• Ability to communicate with students, families, and team members

• Repetitive use of a keyboard at workstation

* Associate or Bachelor degree in a health science related field
* NCBTMB Board Certification
* Experience teaching adult students
* Experience teaching Massage Therapy
