This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The Department of Journalism in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, invites applications for an open rank faculty position as tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Journalism. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication or closely related discipline by the position's preferred appointment date in January 2023. Applicants with an alternative date in August 2023 will also be considered for the position. All applicants must provide evidence of skilled teaching and strong peer-reviewed scholarship.

Applicants must be able to teach our department's upper-level Reporting and Skills courses such as Business Journalism, Digital Story Telling/Production, Sports Journalism and Long Form Journalism, as their primary teaching responsibility. Additional teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to, lower- and upper-division courses such as Media History, Diversity and the Media, Media Ethics, Media Law, and related offerings. We seek candidates who, as dedicated teacher-scholars, are committed to providing undergraduate students with an active, supportive learning environment, advancing knowledge through theoretically and/or historically significant scholarship, and contributing to the inclusive excellence of our university community.

Department Details
The Department of Journalism is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC), and offers BA and BS degrees in Journalism, as well as a minor in Journalism. In addition to the courses listed above, its diverse faculty members teach courses in areas such as Reporting, News and Advanced News Production, Multi-Platform Capstone, Introduction to Journalism, and Introduction to Visual Journalism. The department also offers a semester-long Washington D.C. Program where students have internship opportunities for course credit in top media and related organizations. Departmental resources include state-of-the-art broadcast studios, hands-on, award-winning and student-produced TCU 360 news hub (https://www.tcu360.com/), video and photography cameras, news production equipment and other facilities. The majority of our courses are taught in the Moudy South Building (where the department is housed) in close proximity to our Newsroom, faculty offices, and equipment room, all of which serve to enhance student engagement and administrative support.

School/College Description
The college, which is named for TCU alumnus and longtime CBS network TV correspondent Bob Schieffer, is the academic home for four departments: Communication Studies; Film, Television and Digital Media; Journalism; and Strategic Communication. About 1,200 undergraduate student majors complete coursework in areas that include: Advertising and Public Relations; Cinema and Media Studies; Digital and Social Media; Health Communication and Media; Interpersonal and Organizational Communication; Journalism; and Sports Broadcasting. About 30 graduate students pursue master's degrees in Communication Studies or Strategic Communication, and about 60 full-time and 10 part-time faculty teach in the college. The college's award-winning student activities include print, video and digital news media, a speech and debate team, an advertising and public relations agency, a radio station, and sports broadcasting productions.
