Position description
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego (hwsph.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more faculty positions in the areas of Behavioral Medicine, Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Policy, Health Equity, Public Mental Health, and Climate and Environmental Health.

The School offers teaching and student mentoring opportunities in our Bachelor of Science in Public Health, MPH, PhD in Public Health (administered jointly with San Diego State University), and MS and PhD in Biostatistics degree programs. Further, the School has an MAS in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations run in conjunction with UCSD Extension and a Preventive Medicine Residency program. The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on Health Promotion and Equity, Women's Health, Tobacco Control, and Wireless and Population Health Systems and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School houses five recharge cores providing services to both UCSD and the external community, and the School's faculty and academics hold ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts.

Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity by submitting a Diversity Statement of past contributions and/or future plans of excellence in this area as part of their application for an academic appointment.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Position maybe full-time or part-time subject to funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Appointments require candidates to be self-funded or partially self-funded, e.g., with grants.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have a demonstrated experience in research in Public Health with peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals appropriate for appointment rank and step and/or a demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students in Public Health
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or other doctoral degree focused in the area of Public Health or a related field by the time of appointment.
