Position description
The Environmental Studies minor program with John Muir College at UC San Diego is looking for a Lecturer with teaching experience in Environmental Studies, from a variety of perspectives: e.g., natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy. We are hiring for part-time teaching appointments during the 2022-23 academic year for the following courses: Introduction to Environmental Studies (ENVR 30), which is a core requirement for the Environmental Studies minor; and Wilderness and Human Values (ENVR 140/141) which is a humanities based course examining philosophical, political and personal conceptualizations of "wilderness". We are particularly interested in lecturers who can integrate topics in environmental justice and climate change with a qualitative approach to natural sciences; and lecturers who have a critical approach to the concept of "wilderness" from Indigenous and decolonial perspectives. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • M.A. degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology or other related field required by start of appointment -Solid teaching experience in a University setting in Environmental Studies, from a variety of perspectives: e.g., natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy, depending upon which courses have positions open
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity

Preferred qualifications
  • Evidence of successful approaches to inclusive pedagogy, accomplishments in contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity
