For more information, visit nyit.edu The Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health Professions of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seeks a tenure track Assistant/Associate/ Full Professor. The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed on the New York Institute of Technology campus in Old Westbury, NY, in the School of Health Profession. The department offers two entry-level degree programs, a master, and a doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Candidates should demonstrate strong research and teaching background. We are seeking an individual who is interested in helping strengthen and advance our occupational therapy program. The new faculty will be responsible for teaching courses in physical disabilities, pediatrics, or mental health according to ACOTE accreditation standards. This position is a full-time, open-rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) 9-month contract position. This is an open-rank position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and level of experience.

Responsibilities:
Candidates should demonstrate strong research and teaching background.He/she must be interested in helping strengthen and advance our occupational therapy program.The new faculty will be responsible for teaching courses in physical disabilities, pediatrics, or mental health according to ACOTE accreditation standards.Develop course syllabi and teaching materials.Provide student advisement and support.Demonstrate a commitment to excellent leadership and a strong potential for applied scholarship and service in healthcare.Participate in a variety of service-oriented activities including, but not limited to curriculum review, admissions, inter and intra-departmental committees, university committees, and professional services activities.Must be able to participate in the development of the department (e.g., accreditation; admissions, and other tasks).

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitative Sciences, or a related field. Candidates near their completion of a doctorate will be considered; a terminal degree is preferred.Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the New York State and NBCOT certification.A minimum of five years of professional practice experience is required.Experience supervising Level I and Level II occupational therapy students.Must have academic teaching experience (live face-to-face and online).Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are needed for working with diverse stakeholders.Must have expertise in the area of pediatrics, physical disabilities, community-based practice, or mental health.Applicants should be proficient with computer technology and possess strong organization, problem-solving, and counseling skills.Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, cover letter with a statement of their philosophy on fieldwork education, research interests, and the names, telephone numbers and email addresses of 3 references.
