Position Summary:The Center for Human Development is seeking applications for two Research Professionals.. These individuals will work as part of the Center's research and evaluation team to complete project objectives. Requirements include the ability to organize, plan, and design, research/evaluation activities, analyze and synthesize results, and write project reports. Duties:

20 Coordinate project activities with other research professionals and research technicians. This position is responsible to serve as the lead to coordinate several related evaluation projects with other research professionals. Essential

25 Creates reports for use in publications and reports. This position is responsible to draft full reports of assigned evaluation and research projects. This position is responsible to assist in the presentation of evaluation and research findings. Essential

5 Assist in writing grant proposals to secure additional funding. This position is responsible to assist the CHD evaluation and research team to write grant proposals. Essential

50 Conduct research and evaluation activities under the general direction of the PI/Project Director. This position is responsible to conduct research and evaluation activities on assigned projects including instrument development, developing data collection processes and conducting basic analysis for multiple evaluation and research projects using computerized tools, for both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. About the Center for Human Development:

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in Education, Research, and

Service (UCEDDs) authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000. There are 67 UCEDDs, at least one in every state and territory, which form an Association of UCEDD's (AUCD.org). Since CHD is the only UCEDD in Alaska, we serve the entire state.

The UAA Center for Human Development has 4 major functions:
  • Interdisciplinary education
  • Community training and technical assistance
  • Research
  • Information dissemination

These activities are designed to increase the independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion for individuals with

disabilities. CHDs projects and activities are not limited to developmental disabilities; they focus on a wide range of disabilities, ages, and issues.

The mission of CHD is to improve the quality of lives for people who experience disabilities and their families, across the life span, through interdisciplinary training, technical assistance, exemplary service development, applied research and dissemination of information. The goals and activities of CHD are guided by the values of integration and inclusion, self-determination, individual and family empowerment, cultural sensitivity, diversity, community referencing, independence, and productivity.

Position Summary:

These two positions will work as part of the Center's research and evaluation team to complete project objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Solve complex research questions/problems using analytical skills.
  • Create reports for use in publications.
  • Ability to combine own research/evaluation work with the work of others with regard to grant writing and project completion.
  • Knowledge of data collection and data entry procedures.
  • Ability to use computerized tools to organize and analyze information (e.g., spreadsheets, SPSS, Qualtrics, Google Sheets).
  • Ability to manipulate data to produce charts, graphs, and tables.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews.
  • Good writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple activities and projects independently.

Typical Experience:
  • One year experience in social science, natural science, mathematics, and/or statistics.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: special education, employment services, research/evaluation activities, or a setting working with people with disabilities.

Required Education or Training:

BA or BS and one year experience in a field relevant to research (e.g., social science, natural science, mathematics, statistics), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 79 (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/talent/files/fy22-salary-schedules/regular-staff-salary-schedules/FY22_ALL_STAFF.pdf) , minimum $26.08/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary andUA employee benefits package (http://www.alaska.edu/jobs/benefits/) .

Term Position:

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
