This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Engineering graduate to fast-track their career development as a Audio Systems Engineer (KTP Associate position). The successful candidate will undertake a 24-month collaborative knowledge transfer project between KP Acoustics Group Ltd (one of the leading acoustic consultancies in the UK) and the University of Salford (Acoustics Research Centre, School of Science, Engineering and Environment).

This post is a dynamic role looking to develop a highly directional, personalised sound masking system for use in office environments to improve productivity and reduce distraction.

Based in Southampton, you will be supported by the staff from the company and an academic team from the University of Salford whilst undertaking scientific research work. In addition to working in a commercial company in close contact with other staff, the Associate will gain experience of being a key player within the growth of the business.

The vision for this KTP is to develop an innovative personalisable, bespoke and adaptable sound masking system which uses a soundscaping approach to enhance the acoustic environment, and which enables segregation of different soundscapes even in an open plan space.

The KTP will enable KP Acoustics to meet their strategic aims to expand and diversify, whilst further developing the acoustic consultancy market. The project will be innovative both to the business, as it integrates product design with architectural acoustic design, and also to the market, as it will develop innovative features not currently offered in sound masking system.

Skills required: Candidates should possess a degree with a minimum of a 2:1 BEng or BSc in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computing or Mechanical Engineering) or in Physics. A Masters level qualification although desirable is not an essential requirement when applying for this post, as the opportunity to study for a further qualification is available.

The successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and to tight deadlines within a dynamic team environment.
