Centre for Materials in Energy and Catalysis (CMEC) is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to conduct industry relevant research about functional materials for energy storage applications.

This position is for a materials engineer/scientist to work on the design and testing of materials for industry relevant energy storage applications. Work includes synthesizing nanomaterials with well-defined structures, conducting various characterizations of these nanomaterials, designing testing compartments, and testing for energy storage performance.

The successful applicant will be working in the Centre for Materials in Energy and Catalysis, with a diverse range of scientists and engineers with expertise in materials science and engineering for energy-related applications. The research will be interdisciplinary and have a strong fundamental component with cutting-edge materials synthesis and advanced analytical methods. This position can offer you an exceptional opportunity to work closely with key research participants around the world.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated early career researcher, who is an independent problem-solver and friendly collaborator.

To be successful you will need
  • A recent PhD degree, or with a submitted PhD thesis, in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related field.
  • Expertise in the synthesis of functional materials and their application in battery energy storage.
  • Strong background in energy storage applications such as battery development, assemble, and testing.
  • A record of excellent quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and at conferences.
  • Track record in publishing patents.
