Job Description:
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University is searching for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine. This position will be tenure-track.
* Provide direct patient care for animals presented to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, participate in and help supervise the small animal internal medicine service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, cooperate with other clinical faculty in the clinical and hospital practice, support the emergency duty clinicians through provision or supervision of the small animal internal medicine service when requested, participate in the didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine, cooperate with other faculty members in the development of teaching programs, visual aids and other instructional materials.
* Participate in the School's research program as a team leader or member, participate in residency training and in the continuing education and public relations programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Professor:
DVM or equivalent degree
Must have successfully completed a residency training program accredited by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or equivalent
Associate Professor:
DVM or equivalent degree with 5 years of related research/teaching/clinical experience
Must have board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or equivalent
Professor:
DVM or equivalent degree with 8 years of related research/teaching/clinical experience
Must have board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications (ALL LEVELS):
Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or equivalent
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Per PS 18- This position is a part of the Emergency Response Personnel - these personnel are linked with the hospital during any emergency response event and are expected to report in and perform as outlined in the emergency response plan.
Required to be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach and/or climb a ladder, kneel or sit on the floor, bending, squatting, and/or twisting.
* Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position is subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67*
