A pivotal role within the Journal Development team, the holder of this role will be an expert on all things editor and/or reviewer, and help shape and deliver an effective engagement and communications strategy for our researchers.

In addition, the Researcher Engagement Manager will take on local responsibilities for how we engage with our editor community. Working closely with the Marketing Manager, they will have responsibility for improving the overall experience of our Chinese editors through local engagement activities and knowledge sharing.

    • Support on the maintenance, development, expansion and success of the Hindawi Editor Community, ensuring editor signups, engagement, relevant content and reporting on performance
    • Where relevant, collaborate with the Brand Marketing team and Open Science team on activity related to the wider community and in utilizing company-wide materials for researcher-focussed activity
    • Produce consistent and useful measuring and reporting of all editor and/or reviewer engagement activity (working closely with the Data & Operations team) to ensure understanding of performance against set KPIs

  • Local engagement in China:
    • Develop strategies to engage Chinese editors through local channels including WeChat, WeChat groups and Zhihu
    • Work with other Researcher Engagement Managers and Editor/Reviewer Marketing Managers on recruitment projects to increase editor representation at key institutions to grow our reputation locally and to improve the diversity of our journal boards
    • Organize and coordinate seminars, webinars and interviews in China collaborating with our local community of editors, authors, reviewers and partners to address local and international community issues
    • Create content for a China audience based on our content strategy for China
    • Work with the China Marketing Managers to develop a Bilingual onboarding guide for academic editors that is updated regularly with information on our submission and editorial processes
    • Lead on other China-based engagement projects to support our general journal development targets

  • Editor communication:
    • Responsible for managing journal-level communications and relationships with Editorial Boards of a set journal portfolio, including acting as main point of contact for all Senior Editors (e.g. Chief Editors, Section Editors, etc.) with regard to journal development and policies
    • Where relevant, define and implement journal development initiatives for a set journal portfolio including, but not limited to, commissioning content, refining aims and scopes, refreshing Editorial Boards and facilitating Senior Editor engagement
